Michael is a Senior Managing Director at Mackinac, an Accordion Company, where he leads the Boston practice and the retail restructuring vertical. Prior to joining Mackinac, he was a Senior Managing Director at a leading global financial advisory firm. Michael has over 20 years of strategic, financial and restructuring consulting experience across sectors that include: retail, grocery, consumer products, manufacturing, distribution, biotech, medical device, media, service businesses and technology. In his career Michael has successfully led engagements in special situations including, business transformations, M&A related activities, divestitures, debt refinancing, workouts and restructuring. Additionally, Michael has served in many C-level interim management roles including CEO, CFO and CRO. Significant engagements include the following: CRO and Chapter 11 advisor for Fairway Market, a $700M grocery store chain, Financial and restructuring advisor to the lender of Brooks Brothers, the iconic clothing retailer, in support of the company's restructuring and bankruptcy filing, Financial and Chapter 11 advisor to the Lender of Payless Shoesource during the company's Chapter 11 filing and subsequent winddown. As acting CEO and CFO, he led the strategic assessment and divestiture of a $70MM dry cleaning chain with operations in six states. Michael served as CRO for an affiliation of companies in the healthcare and high-tech materials industries for an equity stakeholder, driving decreased cash burn rate through cost containment, streamlining operations and financial discipline. He has been an advisor in over 20 engagements in retail/consumer products. Michael earned an MBA in Finance & Entrepreneurship from the F. W. Olin School of Business, Babson College, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Economics from Bentley College in Waltham, MA.
