Mr. Ashbaugh formed Straight Path Advisors LLC in 2019 to provide consulting and advisory services to privately-owned companies. From 2001 to 2019 he served as an officer of Capital Southwest Corporation (Nasdaq: CSWC), a publicly-owned Business Development Company that invests in lower middle-market companies across the capital structure. As Senior Vice President and Managing Director he developed and managed an extensive network of relationships with private equity firms, lenders, law firms, accounting firms and consultants. Mr. Ashbaugh sourced, reviewed, conducted due diligence and negotiated CSWC equity and debt investments in numerous privately-owned businesses. He has investment and experience in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, distribution, healthcare services and products, consumer products, retail, technology and SAAS businesses, and energy services and products. Mr. Ashbaugh served as lead director for CSWC on the boards of Palm Harbor Homes Inc., CashWorks, Dennis Tool Company, Texas Shredder Inc., Pharmafab Inc., iMemories Inc. and Trax Technologies Inc. and as chairman of the board of Titan Liner Inc., and Deepwater Corrosion Services Inc. In his board positions he actively participated in strategic and financial planning, personnel recruitment and assessment, transaction review and execution, governance and exit planning and execution. He currently serves on the board of directors of the Watermark Community Development Corporation and on the investor board of Loopback Analytics and is a member of Ambassadors Impact Network. Prior to joining CSWC, he spent 19 years in the investment banking industry, serving as Managing Director in the corporate finance departments of Hoak Breedlove Wesneski & Co, Principal Financial Securities, Inc. and Southwest Securities and as First Vice President with Rauscher Pierce Refsnes (now RBC Capital Markets). As an investment banker focusing on emerging businesses, he was active providing M&A advisory services, raising private equity and debt capital, and managing public offerings. He began his career as a banking officer in the Energy Lending Group of Republic Bank (Bank of America). Mr. Ashbaugh holds an MBA summa cum laude from The University of Texas at Austin and a BS summa cum laude from Texas A&M University.
